Reel Inspiration: Purple Silk Wool Maxi Dress by Timo Weiland

The recent collaboration of Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein is, dubbed by themselves, a cross between two Martin Scorcese gems– Age of Innocence and Gangs of New York. If you check out their website, you will find that the fall collection features a rich mix of color and texture on classic silhouettes.

Scalloped Long Dress from the Timo Weiland website

This long purple maxi dress caught our eye as we perused the website. We think its a hybrid of Jenny Everdeane’s silk blue kimono dress and Countess Olenska’s floral satin dress. Either way, it’s opulent and sexy, even modern. It’s available on Revolve Clothing, along with a few other pieces from the same collection.

From the front, the top is a striking, velvety purple, while the back panel is faux fur which is sandwiched between sequined side panels.

The skirt puts forward a striking print of multi-colored splatter. It’s ultra-feminine but not as constricting and reserved as the dresses of before.

Color and sparkle are certainly in for the holidays. And a bit of historical film for inspiration is not bad either. This maxi dress is definitely on top of our must-have list.
