Orange-Injected Maxi Dresses For Weekend Affairs

Sunday, February 12, 2012 • by Karla Mae

Weekends are the sweetest part of the week. It’s the time to let loose and relax with friends and family. These are our weekend finds– lovely bright maxi dresses that breathe and are cool on the skin. Notice how they are injected with what is starting to look like the color of Spring 2012– orange! Already Pantone has declared tangerine tango as the color of the year and it’s hard to see why not. Orange or tangerine has a way of cheering up an outfit and on maxi dresses, they are especially wonderful.

This year, we again see stripes as a major player in trends. Calvin Klein’s Tie Dye Maxi Dress features tigerlily stripes on the long and casual dress. Presley Skye does it in the form of purple and magenta zebra stripes on a belted, silk chiffon maxi dress.

Eliza J’s Tie Neck Maxi Dress though incorporates stripes as a trim to an otherwise geometric-patterned dress. I personally love how very sophisticated this dress is, even for evening events. Its high neckline is looks especially haute couture.

And above patterns, color blocking is obviously here to stay. We have seen Stem’s punchy orange and red maxi dress all over the web and it is the perfect example of colorblocking done right. It takes into consideration that deep V neckline, its banded waistline and floor-length skirt.
