Designer Highlight: Yigal Azrouël and His Maxi Dresses

New York based fashion designer Yigal Azrouël never had any formal training as a fashion designer. Mainly driven by art, culture, and architecture of his city, Azrouël has spawned modern but wearable designs that has caught the attention of the world.

It was 1998 when he launched his first collection in New York, and started his participation in Fashion Week the following year. Aside from his designs, his freestanding boutique in the Meatpacking District which was launched in in February 2003 garnered much praise and acclaim for its ingenious aesthetic and architecture. The store was designed by Dror Benshetrit.

Yigal Azrouël was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2004. Later that year, he did his first international showing at the Ritz Paris, showing his Spring/Summer 2005 collection.
