Stunning Red Carpet Looks From Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried for the ‘Les Miserables’ World Premiere

Friday, December 7, 2012

The much awaited film Les Miserables finally premiered at the Odeon Theatre in Leicester Square, London last December 5, 2012. And was expected, the stars looked absolutely glamorous for the red carpet event. The ladies were especially arresting in their designer gowns, Anne Hathaway in Givenchy, and Amanda Seyfreid in Balenciaga.

Anne Hathaway’s pearl studded, backless gown was a real eye-catcher, although others insist on another adjective like ‘baffling’. Hathaway who played Fantine, the factory worker turned prostitute, made headlines during the making of this film for her controversial weight loss regime. However, she looked absolutely fantastic in the white, floor-length Givenchy which showed off a toned and hardly emaciated physique. And did we mention the gown was backless?

Personally, I found Amanda Seyfried’s dress more to my taste. Some might argue the length of her Balenciaga dress for the occasion but I thought the ruffled, asymmetrical hem was especially apt. She did after all, play Cosette, Fantine’s daughter, and the gown is youthful in its approach. It was luxurious, the deep V front a great touch of modernity to the world premiere of a great classic. And can I just say how genius it was to put her hair side-swept style?
